Wow, Charles!! I love, LOVE this! Just look at him, all majestic and proud... You did wonderfully with his posture, the face and the robe-like wing. Bravo! :)
He's cool, and not just because I'm a bird lover. Reminds me of the time an owl came down the chimney of my family's house and flew around the living room. You couldn't hear the wings flapping. They're super-stealthy fliers.
Junko: Thanks, Junko.. as for the time.. it really depends on the deadline/time that i've got - and the level of finish that I aim at. As usual, the idea/design stage takes the longest time. For this one, I had the idea in mind already.. so I did a couple of quick sketches and then painted it in... uhm.. maybe about 5 hours.. :)
Ted: Yeah.. owls are silent flyers aren't they? do you know the type of owl that came to your house? :D
Screech owl. I caught him in a towel and let him out the front door. Or maybe it was a 'she' since it was trying to make a nest out of our chimney. Barn owls are the coolest, though. Do a barn owl next!
Charles, Thanks for answering my question! Only 5 hours.. wow. When I paint digital, because it's so easy to go back and fix, it takes me forever to finish! Really great work :) I want to see more!
Yowza!! I really love your art work, your pencil renders are fantastic but so is your digital... i dont know what i love more so i'll say all of it! :)
