Foxboy and Savanna
Hi all,
Here's a random thing that I did few days ago. I called it.. Foxboy.
And another thing is this.. A few months ago Mike Boldt invited me to give a contribution to a great children book project called "The ABC's of Northern Ghana". There are some super talented artists contributing to this project. I'm so thrilled and honoured be a part of this. Go and check some of the progress and finished images in the blog! Thanks, Mike! :)
My letter was "S" for Savanna:

Awesome as usual, Charles! Oooh.. I started drawing Foxes too a few days ago :D
Beautiful work here, Charles! :) I love your coloring on the fox boy and the lighting on the Savannah is gorgeous.
Awesome work ^_^. I loooove to see your pencil work! It's so soft & highly detailed.
Yes. Just awesome!
Woah woah woah! these are great!! Soo much eye candy :)
Charles, the Foxboy feels magical. Like it would come every hundred years to check on earth's woods health and bring wonderfulness to the things he touches.
Ever heard or seen May Ann Licudine ( http://nnayam.blogspot.com/ )? It made me remind the feelings I get from watching her art.
"The ABC's of Northern Ghana" sounds like a nice book to have. You gave a great contribution there.
Have a great week with a C, h, a, r, l, e, and "S"!
Yeah, great lighting in the Savanna piece.
The Foxboy has a cool look to it. Almost like cut-out, but really dimensional. Like it's coming at you off the screen. Really neat :D
Really solid work!
ahh both images are really nice Charles. - Love seeing the original pencils and the digital paint/color comparison. Cheers!
S.
These are amazing Charles, I'm especially keen on Savanna. How do you get your colours like that? They look like coloured pencils. And I love how you've depicted the cool morning/afternoon shadows.
Mannnnnn.. I just LOVE that Ghana piece. What a pro you are. It's just dripping with atmosphere. Even the creatures... they're so comfortable in your world that the lizards have no fear of the snake, and the snakes can sleep in the open, no fear of the hawk. Wow!
Puspa: Thank you, Puspa. You have to show the fox drawing later :)
Carla: Thank you, Carla :D
TJ Lubrano: Thanks a lot!
Gabby: thank you, Gabby :)
Pat: Nice story there, Pat :) Thanks! and also, cheers for sharing the weblink.. really nice works there.
Jonas: Yo, Jonas. What's up? Glad you mentioned the cut out look on the Foxboy. yes, I tried out a different look on it. Still in the experimentation stage.
Logan: Thanks, man!
Scott: Cheers, good sir! :)
Erin: Thanks, Erin. I was using some basic brushes in photoshop and lots of tweaks and colour adjustment. :) Glad you like it!
Ted: Thanks for mentioning all those good stuff, sir! :D Always great to seeing you here.
